Tottenham expert issues ‘big’ takeover verdict amid Joe Lewis latest – ‘my understanding is…’
Joe Lewis’ latest Tottenham move has been in the works for 10 years.
That is according to Spurs expert John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.
On 16 October, the North Londoners filed an update with Companies House to confirm the cessation of Lewis as a person with significant control of the club.

ENIC group have owned 85 per cent of the club since buying Alan Sugar’s stake in 2001, and Lewis in turn owns close to 71 per cent of ENIC.
Despite the Companies House update, Wenham insists nothing should be read into the move despite talk of a takeover.
“I’m not reading too much into that,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“My understanding is it is nothing more than some sort of tax benefit for the rich that your average fan really has nothing to be concerned about.
“I know a few aggregator accounts got very, very excited and started relaying stories [about a takeover] but after looking into it, it looks like some bigwig in the Bahamas has put the money in his name for someone who is 40 years younger.
“I would imagine this is part of some plan that was cooked up 10 years ago to move money around. Some people are pretending this is a big thing, it’s not.
“I don’t think there is anything further to look into.”

Despite Lewis’ involvement at Spurs, Daniel Levy has acted as the public face of the club over the last two decades.
Tottenham currently sit third in the Premier League after beating Bournemouth 3-2 on Saturday (29 October).
