Tottenham expert issues emphatic Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg transfer claim after source’s update

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg will not be leaving Tottenham to join Real Madrid.

That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.

Sources at the club told Football Insider on Saturday (20 August), Tottenham are confident Hojbjerg, 27, will still be at the club next month despite strong interest from Real Madrid.

On Friday (19 August), it was confirmed that Casemiro, 30, is leaving Los Blancos to join Man United.

Carlo Ancelotti still has the options of Luca Modric, Toni Kroos, Eduardo Camavinga, Federico Valverde and Aurélien Tchouameni to choose from when deciding who should start in the midfield.

As such, Wenham is certain Hojbjerg won’t be replacing the Brazilian at Real Madrid.

“It is quite a bizarre story really,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“If anything, all I hope it does is give Tottenham fans more respect for Hojbjerg. I can’t see this happening to be honest.

“Real Madrid have five central midfielders already. They probably can’t believe their luck that, at 30, they have managed to get £60million for Casemiro.

“Hojbjerg is such an important player for us and I just don’t see him leaving. I don’t see a bid coming in. I don’t think there is much in this.”

Hojbjerg has played every minute of Spurs’ 2022-23 Premier League season.

Last season he featured in all but two league games.
