Tottenham expert issues ‘huge’ Cristian Romero claim – ‘I have to laugh’
Christian Romero will decide when he is fit to return to first-team action, not the Tottenham medical staff.
That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.
Alasdair Gold initially reported on 18 August that Romero, 24, was set to miss around four weeks of action with an adductor injury.

However, Argentinian journalist Gaston Edul reported later that day that the defender is essentially fine and would only likely miss Saturday’s (20 August) win over Wolves.
Wenham couldn’t help but find the situation amusing.
“I have to laugh at the Romero thing,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“He was at the stadium (v Wolves) and he looked absolutely fine. All indications from Romero’s camp are that he wants to play at Forest next weekend.
“It will be interesting to see what happens there because, after the Forest game, we go to two games per week because of the World Cup.
“Alasdair usually doesn’t tweet anything without triple checking with sources, he said he heard from multiple people that Romero would be out for weeks.
“Romero, via Argentinian sources and media came out and said he thought he would be out for 10 days maximum.
“Look, it’s not a huge amount of time and Alasdair, on this occasion, looks to be wrong. Romero wants to get back as soon as possible.
“It sounds like Conte is listening to the player which is the same situation Mourinho had. You can listen to the medical team but it is their job to be overly cautious.

“So if Romero says he is ready to play then it isn’t a big issue.
“If he plays against Forest then great but if he is rested for our big game against West ham then that is also sensible.”
