Tottenham expert issues Hugo Lloris quit verdict after development

Hugo Lloris still has “a lot to give” at Tottenham for this season.

That’s according to former Spurs and Aston Villa right-back Alan Hutton, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about Lloris’ future.

The 35-year-old has just over 18 months left on his contract with the Lilywhites after joining the club ten years ago from Lyon.

According to Italian outlet La Gazzetta Dello Sport (17 November), Antonio Conte’s side have made Empoli goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario a summer target as they look to replace the captain at the end of the season.

The 26-year-old Italian has made 15 Serie A appearances so far this season and has kept five clean sheets during those outings.

Whilst Lloris’ eventual replacement seems inevitable, Hutton insisted the skipper still has a lot to offer the London club.

There is no getting away from the fact that he is an outstanding goalkeeper,” he told Football Insider.

I just think now and then a little mistake creeps into his game. It happens, he is not getting any younger.

Of course he can come and play at a high level for the second half of the season. I still think Tottenham will be looking to bring somebody in to compete at that level.

He has still got a lot to give but for the future they will still want somebody in.
