Tottenham expert issues ‘insane’ Djed Spence claim as Antonio Conte ‘angered’
Djed Spence will not be handed more minutes for Tottenham despite Emerson Royal’s suspension.
That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.
Spence, 22, had failed to make Tottenham’s last two Premier League matchday squads before being restored to the bench against Arsenal on Saturday (1 October).

The right-back has still only played one minute of competitive senior football this season.
In the North London derby, Royal was sent off for a late challenge on Gabriel Martinelli, leaving Antonio Conte with the job of replacing him for Spurs’ next three league games.
When asked if Spence could now be afforded minutes in Royal’s absence, Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild,“No, I have to think like Conte now.
“It’s insane. If it was up to me, I would be starting Spence now. Royal can play on Tuesday [v Frankfurt], he isn’t suspended in that competition, that’s confirmed.
“Despite the red card, I think it would be wise if he did start that game because there are so many games coming in October that if he is going to miss three then we may as well use him one more time.
“In those three games, whoever steps up, whether it be Doherty, Sessegnon, Spence or Perisic, I expect them to establish themselves.
“I don’t see Royal now coming back into the Premier League side for a long time barring suspension or injury. I really don’t.
“I think [red card] that will have angered Conte no end.”

Tottenham are next in action against Frankfurt on Tuesday (4 October).
They then face Brighton in the Premier League next weekend (8 October).
