Tottenham expert issues Japhet Tanganga exit verdict amid ‘£20m’ claim

Japhet Tanganga will not leave Tottenham before the transfer window closes on Thursday (1 September).

That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.

According to the Daily Mail‘s Simon Jones (24 July), AC Milan have held talks with Spurs over a loan deal for the versatile defender.

The 23-year-old is yet to feature in the Premier League this season though he has featured on the bench on three occasions.

Despite this, Wenham is certain Tanganga will stay.

“Tanganga will definitely stay,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“I will say 99% because if someone came in and said here is £20million, he would go.

“But I am 99% certain he stays, he was on the bench again on Sunday. With Romero’s injury and the number of games we have coming up, he stays.

“There has been so much talk about him going but I have never been of the opinion that he would go.

“The AC Milan talks never went anywhere despite constant updates about things getting closer.

“There were other links but nothing concrete, he will stay.”

Tanganga was ruled out for the remainder of the 2021-22 season in mid-March after undergoing surgery on his right knee.

This came after he made 11 appearances under Antonio Conte, following his arrival at the club in November.
