Tottenham expert issues ‘massive’ post-Chelsea verdict – ‘not a lot of people realise this…’
Tottenham deserved their late equaliser against Chelsea and it will prove to be a “massive” moment in their season.
That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.
Tottenham ended their losing streak at Stamford Bridge thanks to Harry Kane’s injury-time equaliser on Sunday (14 August).
This was the second time Spurs fought back in the game after Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg’s strike brought the game back to 1-1.
Wenham was delighted to see his side come back and equalise and insists this result was impossible last season.
“It’s a massive result,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“For momentum and where we are now, for the players to show a new grit and determination to get that equaliser.
“In the lead up to the goal, that was our second corner and we had just had a shot turned away round the corner so we were really piling on Chelsea there.
“We forced that equaliser in and I was really pleased with the will and determination we showed to get that late goal.
“We came away feeling like we had won while Chelsea came away probably feeling like they lost so I do think it is a massive thing for us.

“We never give up and it shows how far we have come in such a short space of time under Antonio Conte.
“Not a lot of people realise this but after beating Southampton and drawing at Stamford Bridge we are already four points ahead of where we were last season.”
