Tottenham expert issues ‘unbelievable’ Ivan Perisic verdict after what he saw v Wolves
Ivan Perisic is now the first-choice left-back at Tottenham after displacing Ryan Sessegnon in his side’s win over Wolves.
That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.
Perisic, 33, got the assist as Spurs secured a last-gasp 2-2 draw at Stamford Bridge last Sunday (14 August).
He also provided the assist for Harry Kane as his goal gave Spurs a 1-0 win over Wolves on Saturday (20 August).
Wenham was delighted by what he saw from the defender.
“Perisic is now starting and looking good,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“He got a great assist and gave Harry the easiest finish he will have for a long time. Perisic will go on a run of starts now.
“I think he just needed to build up for a couple of weeks. Conte touched on it and said that this wasn’t the Perisic he knew from Inter Milan.
“He just needed to get up to speed but from watching the game against Wolves, he is going to play a vital role.
“He is already on two assists and I expect him to start against Nottingham Forest next weekend. He is our first choice now.
“He’s an unbelievable player on his day and I can’t wait to see more.”

Perisic has featured in all of Spurs’ Premier League games but only started for the first time against Wolves.
Sessegnon started the club’s first two league games.
