Tottenham expert issues verdict on Antonio Conte potentially signing ‘five-year contract’ after journalist’s update
Paul Robinson is not convinced Antonio Conte will sign a new contract at Tottenham despite the fact he is “definitely staying” next season.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former White Hart Lane number one claimed the club have to challenge for major trophies to keep the 52-year-old long-term.
According to The Telegraph‘s Matt Law (27 May), Conte has decided to stay with Spurs next season after talks with director of football Fabio Paratici in Turin.

Conte only signed an 18-month deal upon his arrival in north London in November 2021.
Robinson fears that not even a “five-year contract” could secure Conte’s long-term future at at the club.
“I’m not so sure if he will sign a new contract but he is definitely staying,” he told Football Insider.
“Financially, he would have been rewarded for what he’s done this year.
“There will always be speculation about his future. There will be until Spurs challenge for a title. Conte is a manager who coaches teams who win titles. Unless Spurs are up there he will be linked with other jobs, even if he commits to Spurs and signs a five-year contract. He is an ambitious, sought-after manager.
“Tottenham have to match his ambition and drive. If they are not doing that on the field he will consider his future.

“At the moment he could not have asked for more than what he’s got from this Spurs side.
“It’s night and day from when he took over. If he is backed he can put Spurs right up there. It is now about recruitment.”
