Tottenham expert makes ‘huge’ Will Lankshear claim after what he’s seen in person at Hotspur Way

John Wenham has been left impressed by “really promising” Tottenham youth striker Will Lankshear.

Spurs expert Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels, was blown away by the sheer size of the 17-year-old.

Lankshear signed for Tottenham from Sheffield United on 31 August, signing a deal until 2025.

The striker made his Spurs Under 18s debut on 8 October, scoring twice off the bench as his new side drew 3-3 with Wolves.

He bagged another goal for the club in Wednesday’s (26 October) UEFA Youth League game against Sporting Lisbon, a game Wenham attended in person.

“It was the first time I have seen him live,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“It was the first start he has had for that age group. He got the early goal and I have to say he looks like a proper centre-forward.

“He stays forward, doesn’t come back. He also has this huge frame. There is a good power to him and he allowed Jamie Donley to play as a number 10 in the same system.

“It was a really positive start from him, a smart finish after 45 seconds. Sporting were the better team in that game unfortunately and even after 15 minutes we were under serious pressure so Lankshear didn’t have that many more efforts.

“But from what I have seen, he is really promising and I hope to see more of him in the coming weeks and over the rest of the season.”

Sky reporter Lyall Thomas reported on 26 August, that Spurs have would pay a £2million fee to Sheffield United for the 17-year-old striker.

Tottenham are next in action against Everton on Saturday (15 October).
