Tottenham expert on Heung-Min Son being dropped after what he’s just seen

Heung-Min Son will remain in the Tottenham starting XI despite his goal drought continuing.

That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.

Son, 30, is yet to score in five games this season after winning the Premier League Golden Boot alongside Mohamed Salah with 23 goals in the 2021-22 campaign.

The South Korean came close to opening the scoring at West Ham on Wednesday (31 August), but Thilo Kehrer put through his own net before he had the chance to tap home Harry Kane’s cross.

He also had chances against Fulham (3 September) after he was chosen to stay in the side ahead of Dejan Kulusevski, who made way for Richarlison.

Wenham can’t believe Son hasn’t scored.

“Unfortunately, Sonny just can’t score at the moment,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“He actually played really well against Fulham. It was a real energetic performance, loads of pressing and setting up chances.

“He did find the net but the goal was ruled out for offside and in the second half, he also rounded the keeper and hit the crossbar.

“It’s just not going in for Sonny at the moment which is a shame because had Kehrer not out through his own net on Wednesday then Son would have scored.

“He’s not getting the rub of the green but he is still putting in really top-quality performances. I expect him to stay in the side.”
