Tottenham expert points the finger at Hugo Lloris after footage emerges
Alan Hutton has criticised Hugo Lloris’s decision-making for Callum Wilson’s goal against Tottenham on Sunday (23 October).
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Spurs right-back said the referee was right to allow Wilson to play on.
As shown on Sky Sports (23 October), Lloris and Wilson knocked into each other causing the Spurs keeper to go to ground outside his 18-yard box.
The Magpies striker went on to score and referee Jarred Gillett gave the goal despite protestations from the Lilywhites’ shot-stopper.
The VAR official agreed that the goal should stand.
Hutton criticised Lloris’ decision-making that led to the goal.
“Sometimes these coming togethers can go either way, it just depends how you see it,” he told Football Insider.
“I did not think it was a foul for a few reasons. One, Callum Wilson can’t just disappear, he can’t just move out the way.
“Lloris gets there first and he could kick it away. For whatever reason he decides to chest it or try and pass. If he was to kick it away nothing happens.
“I think he has tried to be a little bit too clever. He has realised that he is in trouble then they have knocked into each other and then he has fallen back and tried to get the foul. The ref was right to play on and it was a good goal.“

Tottenham are currently third in the Premier League behind Arsenal and Man City.
They are five points behind league leaders Arsenal but have played one extra game.
