Tottenham expert predicts Tanguy Ndombele deal to be terminated after update

Napoli will not sign Tottenham outcast Tanguy Ndombele on a permanent basis.

That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.

On Friday (19 August), Tottenham confirmed Ndombele had joined Napoli on loan for the 2022-23 season.

The same day, Fabrizio Romano reported the deal contains a €30m buy option.

Wenham is not expecting this clause to be activated and claims Napoli may even terminate the loan in January.

“No chance, he will be back next summer. As soon as they get a proper look at him they will decide to keep it as a loan,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“Absolutely no chance. He went to Lyon last season and didn’t really stand out. It was Lyon’s worst league finish for a number of years.

“I watched him in that Europa League game against West Ham. He scored a tap-in at the London Stadium but other than that he was absolutely awful.

“Rice and Soucek ran rings around him. I don’t see the determination to do anything as a football player. I can’t see Napoli spending that many on any player at the best of times, never mind somebody who, in my opinion, will not be starting for them in three months.

“He will be on the fringes, they might even send him back in January. I don’t rate him at all.”

Ndomebele made just 13 appearances for Tottenham during the 2021/22 campaign.

He played just seven times under Antonio Conte before being shipped out on loan to Lyon.
