Tottenham expert rages as ‘influential’ duo agree deals with new clubs

An expert has been left fuming as two Tottenham youth stars look set to leave the club.

Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels is not happy about losing two youth defenders.

Football Insider revealed last week that Man United have agreed to sign Spurs youth star Jayden Meghoma, 16.

On Tuesday (28 June) Wenham revealed Sam Amo-Ameyaw, 15, has turned down Tottenham’s scholarship proposal and has offers on the table from both Manchester clubs.

“I’m not too happy,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“To lose two of, say, the four best academy players from the intake before we have even started, is phenomenally frustrating.

“I understand the principle of not overpaying people because they can lose motivation, they can lose the hunger to succeed as a pro because they have already made the money.

“But on the flip side of that, isn’t that all completely irrelevant when the club are paying Tanguy Ndombele £200,000-per-week?

“It just becomes hollow words. It makes the whole wider picture seem absolutely baffling.

“It’s a complete waste of time. If other clubs are offering more money then we need to get with the times.

“We have now lost two of our most upcoming and influential youth internationals and now there will be a delayed scholarship intake.

“I hope we keep these players but I don’t think that will be the case. It’s very frustrating.

“In Sam’s case, he played 10 times last season as a 15-year-old. Nine times in the Under 18s league and once in the FA Youth Cup.

“I will not accept him saying he is leaving because of a lack of a pathway. That’s not the case. He has been provided a load of opportunities to play with the Under 18s.”
