Tottenham expert shares Cristian Romero worry after ‘surprise’ development
Tottenham fans require answers over Cristian Romero’s situation with the club yet to announce his permanent signing.
That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.
As per Football.London back in August 2021, the agreement between Spurs and Atalanta was a season-long loan deal with an option – not obligation – to buy for £42.5million.

Romero, 24, dazzled for Tottenham during the 2021-22 season, making 22 appearances in the Premier League.
The defender’s loan has now expired though he has returned to first-team pre-season training without any announcement from the club.
Wenham does not know why the deal has not been announced.
“I have no idea,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“We would have heard something if the deal had been completed. Think how well connected Di Marzio is with Paratici, how connected Fabrizio Romano is with Tottenham.
“We would have heard something so I am a little surprised. I don’t know but he is already back at Tottenham training and the loan will have expired on 30 June.
“When he signed it wasn’t made clear if it was a loan deal or a permanent so hopefully we will get some clarification on that shortly.
“It’s an open goal for the club to announce it as well, he is such a popular player. There could be a fair amount on fanfare.”

Romero made 30 appearances for Spurs in all competitions during 2021-22 and scored once.
He joined Atalanta from Juventus on 6 August 2021 after a successful loan spell with Spurs announcing his loan signing later that day.
