Tottenham expert shares ‘disastrous’ Ryan Sessegnon claim after what he’s seen – ‘this can’t go on’

Tottenham should sell Ryan Sessegnon in January as he is no better than most Championship left-backs.

That is according to Spurs expert John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.

Sessegnon, 22, started against Newcastle United last weekend (23 October) as his side fell to a 2-1 defeat.

He failed to win the ball or bring down Miguel Almiron as the Newcastle man ran through and scored the visitor’s second.

Wenham has been left baffled by the lack of development shown by the defender and claims a change of scenery could be best for all parties.

“We cannot do a second half of the season with Sessegnon, this can’t go on,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“He came in 2019 as part of that summer of disaster along with Tanguy Ndombele, Giovani Lo Celso and Jack Clark. He’s the only one left.

“What has he done? He has been disastrous like the rest. Where is the player who scored 16 goals from left wing-back for Fulham, the PFA Championship player of the year?

“Where is that player? We have seen a couple of games, a handful where he has been involved and he was part of a side that beat Man City.

“Did he contribute loads in that game? Not really. If you said to me, can you spend two months scouting the Championship to find someone who can do the same job as Sessegnon, I probably could.

“I’m sure I would find someone because I don’t know what Sessegnon offers. We are four seasons into this, he is not a young prospect anymore.

“At what point do we say that he has found his ceiling? It’s unfortunate but maybe he needs to change of scenery.”

In other news, one expert claims Tottenham could complete a sensational ‘£150m’ Jude Bellingham deal – ‘we have the money’.
