Tottenham expert shares ‘massive’ Antonio Conte claim
Antonio Conte is planning to stay at Tottenham long-term after his latest press conference.
That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.
Speaking in his pre-Southampton press conference (4 August), Conte was asked about his record of not staying at clubs for longer than a few years.
He claimed keeping the same manager in place over a prolonged period of time is “the best situation for the club to improve”.
Wenham is delighted as the club’s moves this summer suggest the Italian is hoping to stay at Spurs for the long-term.
“It seems like the Destiny Udogie move is a Conte signing,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“It does appear that Antonio Conte is planning for the long-term at Tottenham. There were some more quotes before Southampton talking about the advantage other teams have because managers have been there longer.
“Maybe that is something he could do at Tottenham. We are making signings for the future so all things are looking very, very good at Tottenham at the moment.
“Things are looking exciting. We haven’t lost any of our key players and we have made six signings, strengthening in various positions.
“Everything is building nicely as part of the bigger puzzle at Tottenham. If you give Antonio Conte time and if you back him, it leads to one thing, success.
“That’s something we have been starved of. We have been so close on so many occasions.
“I think Conte is the man to get that success over the line. That would be massive for us.”
