Tottenham expert: This is ‘all I am hearing’ about Fraser Forster ahead of ‘nailed on’ transfer

Fraser Forster is a “great character” and will get plenty of games for Tottenham next season.

That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.

A recruitment source told Football Insider (24 May) that Forster, 34, is set to sign for Tottenham on a free after he accepted the club’s contract offer.

The former Celtic stopper‘s deal at St. Mary’s expires at the end of next month.

Wenham is delighted by what he has been told about the player’s attitude ahead of his move to N17.

“I like Fraser Forster, he is massive isn’t he?” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“I remember his appearances for Celtic against Barcelona in the Champions League years ago.

“He was massive for them and I saw a few tweets from Arsenal fans who said he always plays really well against them.

“So he’s already in my good books. It looks like this deal is nailed on. He is 34 and I had hoped a keeper like Sam Johnstone at 29 would be coming in.

“But he’s a homegrown keeper and all I am hearing is that Forster is a great character to have in the dressing room.

“I imagine he will be an adequate backup who should get plenty of games next season.”

Hexham-born Forster was picked up by Newcastle United as a youngster after playing for the iconic Wallsend Boys Club.

However, he never made a senior appearance for the Magpies, instead being chipped out loan before joining Celtic.
