Tottenham expert weighs in as Son Heung-min footage analysed
Alan Hutton agreed with the decision to rule out Son Heung-min’s goal for Tottenham on Saturday (3 September) for offside.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Spurs and Aston Villa defender suggested Harry Kane got a slight touch on Son’s effort
Son started for the Lilywhites in their 2-1 win over Fulham on Saturday.
As shown on BBC’s Match of the Day (3 September), the South Korea international thought he had opened the scoring for the London club.
However, the flag went up as Kane was in an offside position and made a movement towards the ball.
Son is yet to open his account for Antonio Conte’s side this season.
When asked by Football Insider if the officials came to the right conclusion, Hutton said: “It did look to me as if Kane got a slight nick on it.
“Then when he was trying to celebrate he was pretending that he didn’t. He probably knew he was offside. He also probably wanted Son to get a goal as well. That will come there’s no doubt about it.
“It did look like he got a little touch on it and he definitely went for it so that’s probably one of the reasons as well that he flagged for offside.
“It really depends if he’s interfering with play.

“If you score a legitimate goal and the attacker is blocking the goalkeeper’s view for instance and they’re offside then it’ll be flagged.
“It’s one of those that was touch and go but he did make a movement towards the ball that then affects the keeper so I can see why it was given.“
