Tottenham expert wowed by Mikey Moore as deal agreed
Tottenham teenage sensation Mikey Moore has agreed his first professional contract with the club.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, ex-Tottenham defender Alan Hutton believes the 17-year-old could be given an opportunity in the first-team this season.
The youngster has been prolific at youth level for both club and country having scored 24 goals in 32 appearances for Spurs’ Under-18s and nine goals in 10 games for England’s Under-17s.
Football Insider revealed (July 4) that Manchester City, Manchester United, and Bayern Munich had made offers but the striker has now committed to his boyhood club.
Mikey Moore backed to be the next big thing at Tottenham
Moore has been with Tottenham for the club’s pre-season tour of Japan and South Korea and came on as a substitute in their two games against Bayern.
The striker made his first-team debut in Spurs’ 2-0 defeat to eventual champions Man City back in May.
“I think if they’re good enough he’ll (Ange Postecoglu) give them an opportunity and this kid is supposed to be special”, Hutton told Football Insider.
“He’s going to have to work really hard, I’ve seen Ange at Celtic and now at Spurs, the way he likes to play is so intense, you even see him in pre-season screaming at the players.
“It’s difficult for a young player to get to that level but seeing that they’re now giving out new contracts to young players, there always has to be a pathway into the first team.
“If there isn’t, what’s the point in having a youth academy? They need to be breaking these young boys through.

“I think Ange is the type of guy that would give them an opportunity if they’re good enough but really the ball is in their court.
“If these youngsters can get to the level then they’ll get that chance, if not, they’ll move them on.”
