Tottenham Hotspur fans have all said the same thing about Ange Postecoglou’s decision to drop James Maddison for the game against Aston Villa.
Postecoglou’s choice was justified as Spurs picked up three points after a 4-1 win against their Premier League rivals after goals from Brennan Johnson, Maddison, and a brace from Dominic Solanke.
The Tottenham boss decided to axe Maddison from his starting lineup, with the 27-year-old having to make do for a place on the bench.
Son Heung-mind returned to the team, with Postecoglou opting for a trio of Pape Matar Sarr, Rodrigo Bentancur, and Dejan Kulusevski as his midfield options for the game.
Maddison has played in all 10 of Tottenham’s Premier League games this season, scoring three goals and providing three assists.
The England international did make his mark as a substitute, scoring his 50th Premier League goal to round out Tottenham’s victory in the 96th minute.

Dropping the England international might have been a big call before the game, but Spurs fans opted to back their manager’s decision.
Fans felt that it was done from a tactical perspective to deal with Villa rather than due to Maddison’s personal performances.
