Tottenham fans explode as ‘shocking’ player enters ‘hall of shame’ vs Aston Villa

Tottenham supporters have left no stone unturned when blasting one of their own on social media following the FA Cup exit to Aston Villa.

Craig Pawson’s display shone through at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday, 10 January, but there are no excuses for Spurs, who lost their fourth game in seven matches across the competitions.

While it was a spirited display from the No.7, Xavi Simons was fortunate to go unpunished early on in proceedings, while the same could be said about Ollie Watkins in the latter stages.

Thomas Frank is now under more pressure than ever after being knocked out of the prestigious competition, but his players did him absolutely no favours in front of the home fans.

Very few can leave with their heads held high, and Pedro Porro is not one of them.

One of his more baffling moments was being cautioned for ranting as the fourth official after Spurs had a goal ruled out for offside, before also making his feelings known by punching the substitute’s bench.

A frustrated supporter compared him to Sergio Reguilon, only on the opposite flank, while another was adamant that the Spaniard has been “shocking for a while now.”

Labelled as “the worst player in our team this season,” supporters were likely celebrating when he was finally hooked for Djed Spence, but it was too little too late from the under-pressure manager.

Porro’s performance by numbers says everything

Despite creating a chance, winning all five of his attempted tackles, and 86 per cent of his ground duels [FotMob], it was his stats in the final third that left supporters frothing at the mouth.

He only completed 74 per cent of his passes, having his only shot blocked, while only delivering 25 per cent of his crosses, and being dribbled past down the right-hand flank.

Fans have been crying out for Spence to be started more, and this might be the biggest sign of them all for Frank to axe his first-choice right-back. If he doesn’t take the hint, there could be more chaos.

It would be fair to say that the manager is lacking choices when it comes to the senior team, but with no signs of movement in the January transfer window, he will have to work with what he has.

That is, if the former Brentford boss is still in charge for the upcoming games. After being outsmarted by Unai Emery, there might be no time left for the 52-year-old in North London.
