‘Too predictable’, ‘So scared’ – Tottenham fans fume at senior defender v Chelsea

Tottenham fans were left fuming at the performance of left back Ben Davies after his performance in the 3-1 win against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.

Spurs travelled to the Blues in a crunch clash for a top four finish come the end of the season, with Mauricio Pochettino’s men starting the day five points ahead of their London rivals, who sit in fifth.

It was the home side who took the lead, Alvaro Morata heading home from a Victor Moses cross, goalkeeper Hugo Lloris coming out of his box but missing the ball to give the Chelsea striker a near-empty goal to nod the ball into.

However the sides went into the break level courtesy of Christian Eriksen’s stunning strike before the half time whistle, the Danish international executing the perfect technique to rocket the ball past Willy Caballero in the Blues goal.

A Dele Alli double was the decisive factor in the second half, helping cement their place in the chase for Champions League football.

Delivering their verdict of the clash, the Tottenham fans were left bitterly disappointed on Twitter by what they saw from Welsh star Davies, with many questioning his positioning throughout the game, especially for Chelsea’s opener, despite the 24-year-old providing the assist for Eriksen’s sensational strike.

Here, Football Insider has rounded up a selection of the supporters’ best tweets:

Prior to Sunday’s clash, Davies had made 32 appearances for Spurs this season, scoring twice and chipping in with five assists.
