Tottenham fans rage as controversial VAR footage is re-analysed – ‘Disgrace’
Tottenham fans have raged at the decision to allow Chelsea’s opening goal in the clash between the two sides on Thursday (2 May).
Blues defender Marc Cucurella was spotted blocking Brennan Johnson in the build-up to the goal, allowing Trevoh Chalobah to head home unopposed at the back post on 24 minutes.
A lengthy VAR check followed to see if a foul had been committed by the Spanish left-back, but the officials decided to give the goal.
The Blues grabbed a second through Nicolas Jackson in the second half as they went on to secure a 2-0 victory at Stamford Bridge.
It was a largely disappointing performance from Spurs as their Champions League hopes suffered a blow in West London.
