'Centre of everything', 'Workhorse' – Tottenham fans rave over one attacker in Swansea win
Tottenham fans have turned to social media to react to the performance of attacking star Erik Lamela in the club’s 2-0 win over Swansea on Tuesday.
The Lilywhites took the three points away from the Liberty Stadium thanks to goals from Fernando Llorente and Dele Alli.
The Spaniard scored a first half header, his first Premier League goal for the club, as he rose highest from a Christian Eriksen free kick in his first ever top flight start for Spurs, before Alli scored with two minutes left to play to seal the three points.
It was a match in which much of the play was dictated by the weather conditions, torrential rain causing an almost waterlogged pitch which caused several mistakes from both sides.
Despite having failed to score or assist, Tottenham fans were impressed on Twitter with the performance of Argentinian forward Lamela, who was making his first start in four games, with many crediting his work ethic prior to being replaced by Moussa Sissoko.
Here, Football Insider has rounded up a selection of the supporters’ best tweets:
Since recovering from a serious hip injury, which kept him out of action for over a year, Lamela has gone on to make eight appearances for the club, with Tuesday’s outing just his second start from those outings.
