Tottenham fans react on Twitter to Carroll display for Swansea

Former Tottenham midfielder Tom Carroll played an instrumental role as Swansea recorded a shock victory over Liverpool in the Premier League on Saturday.

The 24-year-old was handed his first start for the club since his £4.5 million move from White Hart Lane on Tuesday, and immediately left his mark on Paul Clement’s first-team, helping them to a 3-2 victory.

Carroll showed brilliant footwork and quality delivery to assist goals for both Fernando Llorente and Gylfi Sigurdsson, and his former Tottenham fans were full of praise for his debut display.

The Spurs youth product made just three appearances under Mauricio Pochettino this season, and made the decision to quit the club in hope of more regular first-team action.

Despite being thrown in at the deep end, Carroll made the best possible start at his new club, and will be looking to contribute similar performances over the remainder of the season as Swansea aim to retain their Premier League status.

The victory lifted them out of the relegation zone into 17th place, where they will remain if their relegation rivals failed to do the business in the remainder of Saturday’s Premier League games.
