Tottenham fans react to Postecoglou sack news – ‘thanks and goodbye’

Ange Posteocoglou’s imminent exit from Tottenham Hotspur has left several fans thankful after their below-par season.

Postecoglou became the first Spurs manager in 17 years to lift silverware in North London after they beat Manchester United 1-0 in the Europa League Final on 21 May, but that hasn’t masked a woeful campaign.

Overall, Tottenham‘s season has been one full of disappointment, with an early exit from the FA Cup, EFL Cup semi-final humiliation at the hands of Liverpool and a dismal Premier League finish of 17th.

Spurs’ wretched domestic record under Postecoglou this term reads 24 losses from 45 matches, with 22 defeats in the Premier League alone double the 11 wins they recorded while also conceding 65 goals.

Tottenham have been biding their time over Postecoglou’s situation after he won their first major trophy since 2008, but that mood has now changed.

Football Insider also revealed that the search is well underway for the Australian’s successor, with Spurs keeping tabs on Bournemouth’s Andoni Iraola, Brentford’s Thomas Frank and Fulham’s Marco Silva.

Tottenham fans ready for Postecoglou exit – ‘no time left’

With a huge summer of upheaval on the cards in North London and Tottenham already being met with obstacles in the transfer market, Daniel Levy’s choice of manager post-Postecoglou will be vital.

Supporters and pundits alike can’t see any way back to credibility for Postecoglou despite Spurs’ Europa League victory, and with the transfer window now open, Levy is in a race against time to get things right.

Spurs fans were united in the opinion that Levy would sack Postecoglou before pre-season after an “unacceptable” campaign domestically, and urged the Australian to “bow out with your head held high”.
