Tottenham fans reacted with excitement on Twitter after it was revealed that Toby Alderweireld could become the next senior player to sign a contract extension with the club.
Reliable journalist Kristof Terreur, who works for Belgian outlet HLN, claims that Spurs are hoping to extend his deal, which runs out in 2019, in 2017.
He revealed the news on Twitter following the announcement of Hugo Lloris’ new deal and fans were excited by the possibility of the club agreeing yet another deal with a first-team star.
Harry Kane, Jan Vertonghen, Eric Dier, Christian Eriksen and Lloris have all committed their long-term futures to the club under Mauricio Pochettino and it would be a huge boost if Alderweireld joined them.

Tottenham have struggled to demonstrate the same level of performance which led them to mount an impressive title challenge in the 2015-16 Premier League campaign.
They currently lie in fifth place, out of the Champions League qualification positions, but have shown an improvement in recent weeks following a convincing 3-0 victory against Hull.
Arsenal are just one point ahead of their London rivals but it will be encouraging for fans to see so many of the club’s top stars wanting to stay at White Hart Lane.
Alderweireld was out of action for two months this season after suffering from a severe knee injury but he is one of the best defenders in the league when fit.
In other Tottenham news, this 23-year-old has emerged as the club’s most influential player.
