Tottenham fans are overjoyed on Twitter after Harry Winks put pen to paper on a new contract that will keep him with Spurs until 2022.
The 21-year-old rising star has earned a new deal after breaking into Mauricio Pochettino’s first team this season, despite plenty of midfield competition.
Spurs revealed the news on their official Twitter account on Tuesday morning, with Pochettino posing for a photo next to his academy product.
Winks has held his own as he looks to earn a place in Tottenham’s first team, with Mousa Dembele, Victor Wanyama and Eric Dier all rivalling Winks for a place in midfield.
Despite signing a new contract back in September that was set to keep him at White Hart Lane until 2021, Winks has signed a new five-year deal that will add another year to his stay.
Tottenham fans are delighted that Winks has signed another contract with Spurs, with many saying Spurs’ number 29’s renewed terms are the perfect Valentine’s Day present.

The youngster could now celebrate his new deal by making his 26th appearance of the season against Belgian side Gent on Thursday in the Europa League.
In other Tottenham news, fans have urged Pochettino to start this 22-year-old against Genk.
