Tottenham fans react on Twitter to outrageous Paul Merson claim

Paul Merson has said that Alexis Sanchez is the only Arsenal player who could get into the current Tottenham team – and Spurs fans were mostly in agreement on Twitter.
The Sky Sports Pundit, who used to play for Arsenal, appears to be disillusioned with his former club who have lost two games on the bounce and effectively ended their title challenge early.
The Gunners are currently only three points behind the North London rivals in the Premier League and Merson’s view might be considered as outrageous by many.
Star man Sanchez is surrounded by teammates who are proven in the top flight and across Europe including the likes of Mesut Ozil, Olivier Giroud, Santi Cazorla, Theo Walcott, Aaron Ramsey, Laurent Koscielny, Hector Bellerin, Nacho Monreal and Petr Cech.
Speaking about Sanchez on Sky Sports News, Merson said: “He’s their one player. I was talking to someone the other day and I said that if you put Tottenham’s best 11 that they can get on the football pitch and put Arsenal best 11 next to it, Sanchez is the only player that gets in [to Spurs’ team].”
Fans of Tottenham took to Twitter to voice their agreement with Merson, however some didn’t even think Sanchez would be worthy of a place in their starting line-up.

Merson enjoyed a great career at Arsenal, winning the First Division twice, the FA Cup and League Cup with the club between 1985 and 1997. However this statement about the current situation at the Gunners will not improve his reputation with the fans.
Tottenham could open up an even bigger gap on Arsenal with victory over Liverpool on Saturday, but could also at the same do their North London a favour as they could potentially drop out of the top four if results were to go against them.
