Tottenham fans react on Twitter to reported interest in 23-year-old (not Kane)
By Derek Smithson
Tottenham forward Vincent Janssen is reportedly being eyed by Bundesliga club Borussia Monchengladbach – and the club’s supporters are split on Twitter about whether they should sell him or not.
The Daily Mirror claim that German side are interested in signing the 23-year-old this summer as they are looking for a new first-choice striker.
Janssen played a fringe role for Spurs last season during his first year in English football and was mainly used as a substitute.
The Holland international was stuck behind attackers Harry Kane and Heung-Min Son in the pecking order, while he also struggled in front of goal when he did feature.
He made 38 appearances across all competitions, scoring six goals and supplying four assists in return.
Spurs fans have given a mixed response to interest in Janssen and some feel he should be moved on after struggling last year, while others feel the best is yet to come and that he deserves another chance.
Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:
Janssen was unable to find his goalscoring boots for the north London club and was purchased for £17million to provide competition for Kane.
The striker has shown in the past that he can be prolific in front of goal, scoring 32 times in 49 games during the 2015/16 campaign for AZ Alkmaar.
He will be under immense pressure to improve his record if he stays at Spurs next year as they look to compete for silverware.
