Tottenham fans say the same thing about shock James Maddison twist

Tottenham fans believe the side might be better off without James Maddison after he was subbed at half-time in their 4-1 win over West Ham on Saturday (October 19).

The 27-year-old was hooked off at half-time for tactical reasons, with the score level at 1-1, with Pape Sarr taking his place at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Maddison was running the show in the first half, with the playmaker creating five chances, three more than any other player, and providing the assist for Dejan Kulusevski’s equaliser.

He also completed 21/24 passes in the final third, five more than any other player before Postecoglu decided to switch things up.

In the end, the Australian’s decision was justified as Spurs scored three goals in just seven minutes to blow West Ham out of the water.

Yves Bissouma started the blitz, scoring with a lovely finish from just inside the penalty area just before Alphonse Areola scored an own goal to make it 3-1.

Captain Heung-Min Son then scored their fourth in his first game back from injury to secure the win for Spurs.

James Maddison sacrificed in massive Tottenham win

After a frustrating start to the season, this win takes Spurs up into seventh, just one point behind London rivals Chelsea in sixth.

Despite the win, Tottenham fans couldn’t help but take to X, formally known as Twitter, to voice their opinion on the decision to substitute Maddison.
