Tottenham fans told to ‘get excited’ after source’s £13.4m Amrabat update – pundit
Tottenham fans should not write off Sofyan Amrabat ahead of his potential move to the club.
That’s according to former West Ham hitman Frank McAvennie, speaking exclusively to Football Insider as Spurs look to complete their first signing of the January window.
On Wednesday (26 January) a Tottenham source told Football Insider that the club are confident of finalising a deal for Fiorentina midfielder Amrabat, 25.

It is understood the player will join on loan with talks now centring over Spurs then having an option to buy him the summer for £13.4million.
Amrabat has been a fringe player for Fiorentina this season but McAvennie claims Spurs fans should be excited about his possible arrival.
“He might not sound like much,” McAvennie told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“But if he’s coming to Tottenham, Conte wants him. There is no way he would sanction a deal for a player he doesn’t want.
“It’s not enough, obviously Tottenham need more. But Conte clearly wants him, if it was me and I was a fan, I would get excited.
“Just because he might not be the big name or he might not cost millions doesn’t mean he’s not a good player.
“If he comes in then you have to give him the chance to impress. Maybe I’m wrong and it’s just desperation.
“I doubt it though. Conte has managed over in Italy so he knows what he’s doing.
“We need to give him a chance, you can’t write him off straight away.”

Amrabat has made only one Serie A start this season, in mid-October, with his other 10 appearances in the league coming from the bench.
In total, the Morocco international, who is currently on African Cup of Nations Duty, has had just 290 minutes of senior action this term for his club.
In other news, Kieran Maguire has told Tottenham to play ‘politics’ and scrap ‘infuriating’ rule hated by Conte.
