Tottenham fans told to ‘lay off’ Nuno and probe latest Levy ‘mistake’ after stadium development

Frank McAvennie insists Daniel Levy is ultimately to blame after the atmosphere at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium turned toxic on Saturday.

The former West Ham hitman, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claims Tottenham need to “reset” as a club.

Spurs lost 3-0 to Manchester United on Saturday as the home fans voiced their displeasure with the manager.

Tottenham, Daniel Levy

The Athletic reported outbreaks of booing at the game as well as chants of “you don’t know what you’re doing” aimed at Nuno Espirito Santo.

However, McAvennie claims Levy should be subject of the fans’ ire after making wrong decisions for years.

“I said this would happen,” McAvennie told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“Tottenham had a little break with a few wins against poor sides and now they are back to losing.

“The pressure is back on and everything is going wrong again. That’s Tottenham at the moment.

“People complain about the manager and the players but it’s Levy. He’s the one to blame for everything.

“The fans know that as well. They need to lay off Nuno, it’s Levy’s years of mistakes that have put Tottenham where they are.

“He’s been making the wrong decisions for years. He should have sold Kane and reinvested it in the squad.

“Now he has a striker who can’t score who is losing value every day. The entire club needs a reset.”

Tottenham are eighth in the Premier League after their loss to the Red Devils.

They are next in action against Vitesse on Thursday.
