Tottenham have agreed ‘another brilliant piece of business’ after Clement Lenglet update – pundit

The signing of Clement Lenglet will be “another brilliant piece of recruitment” by Tottenham.

That’s according to former Aston Villa and Scotland boss Alex McLeish, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about Spurs’ latest transfer target.

On Thursday (30 June) A Spurs source told Football Insider that an agreement has been reached with Barcelona for the loan of defender Lenglet.

The North London club have agreed to pay a loan fee of more than £4million for the 27-year-old France international, who has been identified to slot into the left-sided centre-back role in Antonio Conte’s favoured back three.

He will join Ivan Perisic, Fraser Forster, Yves Bissouma and Richarlison as new recruits at N17.

McLeish hs been blown away by the club’s business this summer with Lenglet tipped to be a “shrewd signing”.

“£4million is not a lot of money in terms of the Premier League,” McLeish told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild

“It sounds like a shrewd signing and if that’s the case then it has been another brilliant piece of business.

“We will have to wait and see. He is the new kid on the block but there is a lot of potential there.

“You wonder why there wasn’t this investment with the previous managers. Conte must have done a bit of sweet-talking with his boss.
