Tottenham ‘have everything in place’ amid Daniel Levy signing claim- ex-Spurs star

Alan Hutton has suggested Tottenham could make “four or five quality signings” this summer after qualifying for the Champions League.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Spurs defender insisted club chief Daniel Levy needs to push to take the club to the next level instead of standing still as they have done in previous years.

The Telegraph (23 May) claim Tottenham’s top brass are prepared to bring in six new faces in a bid to convince Antonio Conte to remain in north London.

The Italian has a year left on his contract at Spurs.

Hutton insisted Tottenham have made the blunder of reducing investment in the past when the club have been flying high.

He suggested the Lilywhites need to kick on this summer to become competitive at the top of the Premier League.

Hutton told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “How many times have they been in this position over the years? We say the same thing.

“They get to a point, the top of the hill, whatever you want to call it, and then instead of just going for the rest of it, they pull back. Then they fall away and they do it all the time.

“They’ve got everything in place, I feel, at this moment in time. They’ve got to the Champions League. See if they go and spend the money on four or five quality signings, it’s really going to enhance the squad and take it to the next level.

“They can then go and compete. I’m not saying they’re going to go win the league after bringing in five players but if all works out, they’re going to be contenders for the top four year in, year out.

“With that brings a better calibre of player year in, year out. Then you can start to compete.”
