Tottenham have found perfect Hugo Lloris replacement as new information drops – expert
Alan Hutton has suggested a goalkeeper like Diogo Costa is the kind of addition Tottenham need.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Spurs right-back insisted Antonio Conte’s side need a keeper that they can build the rest of the team around.
According to 90min (6 February), the Lilywhites sent scouts to watch 23-year-old Costa for Porto in recent weeks.
But Tottenham face stiff competition from Premier League rivals Man United and Chelsea in the hunt for a new long-term keeper.
The Portugal international’s current contract runs until 2027 after signing an extension in November.
The stopper has made 25 appearances for Porto this season and has kept 13 clean sheets and conceded 18 goals.
When asked what sort of keeper Spurs will be looking for, Hutton told Football Insider: “Somebody that has had experience of course.
“But I think bringing somebody in with a view of the longer term, that is going to take over and be there for a certain number of years, that you can build a defence and team round. I think that is the way forward at this moment in time.

“It is a position that people do not talk about all too much. Everyone talks about strikers and midfielders and defenders but you need that solid base to build from.
“I think that is what they will be looking for, someone that is going to be there for the long haul.
