Tottenham have found their next captain after ‘brilliant’ Oliver Skipp news – pundit

Paddy Kenny claims Oliver Skipp is a future Tottenham captain after he signed a new deal with the club.

The former Leeds United stopper, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, reacted to the “brilliant” news.

On Wednesday (20 April), it was announced Skipp, 21, has signed a new deal, keeping him at Tottenham until 2027.

The midfielder has been at Spurs since he was five years old with 2025 set to mark 20 years with the club.

He has made 28 appearances this season but has been sidelined for two months through injury.

Kenny is delighted for Skipp and insists he will one day lead the club on the pitch.

“The manager clearly trusts him and the confidence to give him this new deal will work wonders for him,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“I’m sure he’s absolutely buzzing. He clearly has a bright future in the game as well as a bright future at Tottenham.

“He’s a fan and he’s going to be there for a long time, he’s already a key part of the squad.

“He’s a future captain, there is no one else you would have leading your club.

“He’s been at the club since he was five, he is Tottenham through and through.

“The fans must love him, they will be delighted. It’s just a brilliant thing.”

Skipp spent last season on loan at Norwich and helped Daniel Farke’s side win the Championship at a canter.

He has made 51 senior appearances for Spurs.
