Tottenham have landed Dejan Kulusevski replacement after £18.7m deal agreed – pundit
Gabby Agbonlahor has claimed Ivan Perisic will be used as back up to Heung-min Son and Dejan Kulusevski rather than at wing-back for Tottenham.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker insisted the 33-year-old has “still got the legs” to be a success in the Premier League.
Tottenham confirmed on Tuesday (31 May) that Perisic has signed a two-year deal with the club and will join at the beginning of July when his Inter Milan contract expires.
The Telegraph reported the same day that the Croatia international will be paid £180,000-a-week by Spurs with the deal worth at least £18.7million over the course of the contract.
“I don’t really mind his age to be honest,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.
“I saw him a few times last season and he’s still got the legs and a great shot on him.
“Spurs need options. You’ve got the Champions League, FA Cup, Carabao Cup. You need options.
“He can play where Son plays, he can play where Kulusevski plays. At the moment, they’ve only got Lucas Moura as an option who is hit and miss.
“I don’t think he’ll play him as left wing-back a lot, to be honest. I think he’ll use him as back up to Son and Kulusevski. If he can play wing-back, it adds someone who is versatile.
“For me, he’s still a good player and still got legs.”

Perisic has won the Champions League, Serie A as well as the Bundesliga twice throughout his career.
He also scored in Croatia’s 4-2 defeat to France in the 2018 World Cup final.
In other news, Tottenham have been offered a West Ham star who starts every match.
