Tottenham have put Clarke in shop window after source’s update – pundit
Tottenham manager Nuno Espirito Santo has put Jack Clarke in the shop window for a loan move.
That is the view of former Leeds and Middlesbrough striker Noel Whelan, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the 20-year-old’s involvement in the Europa Conference League Qualifying Play-offs.
Clarke played 45 minutes of Spurs’ 1-0 loss to Pacos Ferreira on Thursday – his fourth senior appearance for the club.
A Spurs source has told Football Insider the club have made the winger available for another loan move and he is expected to join a Championship club.
A £13million signing from Leeds United in 2019, Clarke has enjoyed loan spells at Stoke City, QPR and Leeds since moving to north London.
When asked by Football Insider‘s Russell Edge for his assessment of the attacker’s future, Whelan said: “Jack Clarke needs game time.
“He got minutes in a European competition last week which is great. People will say the game didn’t matter but it mattered. It is not an Under-23 game.
“It keeps him sharp, it keeps him fit and it keeps him hungry. It also shows that he is there, he is ready to play and is ready to go out on loan.
“I’m sure there are clubs out there who could benefit from a player like him.
“He hasn’t shone wherever he has gone but you have to take into account his age.

“There is a lot of learning still to be done but if he leaves on loan this season he needs to put in performances and show he is capable of playing week in, week out.
“He should be in the starting XI in a Championship side by now given how much Spurs paid for him. A lot of hard work needs to be done by Jack to prove that he has a future at Tottenham.”
