Lucas Bergvall's rotten stats show why Tottenham must accept last-gasp offer

Lucas Bergvall has faced an uncertain future at Tottenham Hotspur ever since his desire to leave was revealed earlier this summer.

Numerous clubs, including Nottingham Forest and Newcastle United, have taken an interest, but he remains a Spurs player with very little time left.

Rather than be exiled from the squad, however, Roberto De Zerbi has continued to play him, doing so against Brentford and Charlton.

While the opening Premier League defeat to was poor from everyone in the squad, it was an especially difficult watch for the Sweden international.

He made a mistake leading to a goal before being substituted at half-time, only to be handed another full 90 minutes in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday, 26 August.

Instead of him taking the opportunity to impress, though, it sent yet another signal that the 20-year-old midfielder needs to be sold this summer.

Aston Villa are the latest team to join the race for his signature, but after his most recent performance, moving him on might not be so easy.

Some might argue that his current situation has become a distraction, and that could be impacting his ability to perform on the pitch.

Anyone that signs him, or De Zerbi if Spurs keep him for that matter, will be hoping it is just simply that, but something isn't quite right.

Despite the Lilywhites' 5-1 win, Bergvall picked up a yellow card, only registered an xG of 0.08 in three shots, created no chances and was even dribbled past [FotMob].

The midfielder lost 100 per cent of his ground duels, made just one defensive contribution, and was the lowest-rated player in the starting lineup.

Bergvall isn't the only one facing an uncertain future, especially given that Richarlison failed to even make it onto the pitch against Charlton.

Despite the score, 17-year-old Luca Williams-Barnett was only given 12 minutes to impress, suggesting that a loan would be the best move.

Keith Wyness told Football Insider that Everton could still sign Richarlison in a last-gasp deal, but the finances of a deal might not make total sense.

De Zerbi has certainly formed an interesting squad, but there are some weak points still, and time is running out to get rid of any deadwood.
