Nottingham Forest in last-gasp Pape Sarr hijack, Tottenham stance revealed - Sky

Pape Sarr is expected to leave Tottenham Hotspur this summer, but his next destination is not yet guaranteed.

The 23-year-old only made 37 appearances during 2025-26, with 13 of them coming as starts in the Premier League, as he struggled for minutes.

Football Insider revealed before the 2026 World Cup that Bayern Munich were interested in the midfielder, but no move materialised.

Since, several clubs across England have made contact for the player's signature, though it looked like a return to France would be the most likely outcome.

Ligue 1 giants Monaco had been advancing in talks with Sarr. A deal with them would make sense, having signed for Spurs from Metz in 2021.

Supporters are certainly disappointed by how his career has stalled at Hotspur Way, but he could yet remain in England, thanks to Nottingham Forest.

According to Sky Sports France (27 August), Oliver Glasner's side are attempting a late hijack for the Spurs midfielder's signature.

Although Sarr would rather join Monaco, the Lilywhites could instead strike a deal with the Reds, who are more likely to meet the club's demands.

It is understood that Evangelos Marinakis' club have the finances to buy the player, with Spurs wanting €25million (£21.4m) for a permanent deal.

Sarr is no longer part of Roberto De Zerbi's plans, and with Tottenham also open to a loan deal, a move to the City Ground is becoming increasingly likely.

Forest are said to have the "best chance" of agreeing a deal with Spurs, who had previously been in talks with Galatasaray over the 23-year-old.

Sarr is not the only player linked with a switch to the City Ground, but it would appear that selling the Senegalese international is more important.

Forest have had Lucas Bergvall on their radar for much of the summer transfer window, and his future still hasn't been solved.

Football Insider revealed earlier this week that the Reds were set to submit a bid for the Sweden international, but nothing has advanced since.

Tottenham are also hoping to do further business with Forest, holding strong interest in Neco Williams. The Welshman doesn't appear to be going anywhere, though.
