Tottenham plan to accept Pape Matar Sarr offer after three deals agreed

Tottenham are open to offers for Pape Matar Sarr as they look to raise funds following an expensive summer window, sources have told Football Insider.

Sarr has slipped down Roberto De Zerbi's midfield pecking order this summer following several high-profile arrivals.

The Senegalese international returned from the World Cup with an apparent hamstring injury and is yet to appear for the club this season.

He has attracted transfer interest from across Europe, with Nottingham Forest also believed to be keen on a move.

As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider's Transfer Insider podcast, Sarr will be allowed to leave Tottenham in the final days of the window if an interested club submits an offer that they are willing to accept.

De Zerbi has hinted at an exit being on the horizon for the 23-year-old, even though he has just under four years left on his Spurs contract.

Sources have exclusively revealed to Football Insider that Sarr is keen to leave Tottenham in search of regular game time.

He will find minutes hard to come by if he stays in North London, with Mateus Fernandes, Sandro Tonali, Conor Gallagher, Rodrigo Bentancur and Lucas Bergvall all ahead of him in the midfield pecking order.

Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: "Obviously Tottenham have had a very busy transfer window with incomings and obviously they have spent big on the likes of Tonali, Fernandes and Savio as well. So look, they're going to have to balance the books in some respects.

"Matar Sarr probably is surplus to requirements now at Tottenham due to the competition for places in that midfield now. He's pretty well down in the pecking order and Roberto De Zerbi’s plans. So I think Tottenham would be open to offers for him, but it would have to be a decent offer for the Senegalese as well because he is under contract until 2030."

What has De Zerbi said about Sarr leaving Spurs?

De Zerbi failed to hand Sarr a start in any of Spurs' final five games of the last campaign while they battled relegation from the Premier League.

The 23-year-old is yet to feature under him this season, and De Zerbi has hinted at a departure being on the cards in the final days of the window.

Speaking to reporters on Friday afternoon, he said: "Pape is good. We have to see in the last days of the transfer market what can happen with him."
