Tottenham's maximum possible Richarlison fee in January revealed
Tottenham Hotspur have been placed in a tricky position over Richarlison's future at the club, sources have told Football Insider.
The 29-year-old has been cast out of the squad following a public bust-up with Roberto De Zerbi, who has claimed the striker has been clear that he does not want to stay at Spurs.
However, with less than a year remaining on the Brazil international's contract, they look set to miss out on the big fee they had hoped to make from his sale.
As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider's Transfer Insider podcast, Richarlison is now planning to run down his contract and leave the club for free next summer.
This comes after Tottenham had agreed a deal to sell the striker to his former club Everton for a fee of £35million, before he very publicly opted against the switch.
Since then, clubs in Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Brazil have all made moves for Richarlison, and are being backed to compete for his signature on a free next summer.
What is Tottenham's asking price for Richarlison?
Football Insider revealed on 25 September that Tottenham are hopeful of raising £15-20million through Richarlison's sale, half of the fee they had accepted from Everton.
Spurs are aware they will be unable to attract offers anywhere close to Everton's bid, and may even struggle to land fees at the cut-price rate given his contract situation.
Instead, the interested parties may be willing to wait to land him on a free next summer, while Richarlison is content to sit in the stands until his current contract expires.
Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: "Richarlison, he doesn't have a future at Tottenham that's been made pretty clear by his and the club's actions.
"It's probably best for all parties that Richarlison does move on in January, but the player is in a strong position here because of his contract situation.
"He can decide his future, he could even sign a pre-contract with a club in January, or he could just run down his contract and leave on a free in the summer instead.
"So yeah, it's a difficult one for Tottenham because January will be the last real opportunity that they can command a decent fee probably of around 10 to 15 million for the Brazilian."
Which clubs are interested in Richarlison?
Richarlison remains in a very strong position over his future at Tottenham, and could cost the club a significant fee should he opt to run down his contract until June 2027.
Interested clubs from across world football, however, are on high alert over the decision and will be tempted to accelerate moves should no transfer fee be involved.
Former Everton CEO Keith Wyness told Football Insider on 20 September that he expects Richarlison to return to his native Brazil amid interest from Vasco da Gama.
Clubs in the Premier League have been keen, while those across Europe, Saudi Arabia and even Brazil have also been keeping a close eye on his situation.
However, a return to Brazil is considered most likely as things stand, after Vasco da Gama failed to agree terms for his signature during the summer transfer window.
