Sources: Guglielmo Vicario edges closer to Tottenham move as contact made
Juventus and Napoli are in a two-way race to sign Tottenham Hotspur outcast Guglielmo Vicario, sources have told Football Insider.
Both clubs are in contact with Spurs over a deal for the 29-year-old goalkeeper this summer.
Tottenham want a sale, but multiple formulas are being discussed including straight loans and loan-to-buy options.
The north London club value their former established number one at around £20million rising to £25m.
Vicario’s status in Tottenham’s squad has fallen under Roberto De Zerbi, with Antonin Kinsky expected to be the number one keeper for the new campaign.
The arrival of Martin Dubravka this summer only damaged the Italian international’s importance further, with the former Newcastle goalkeeper expected to be Spurs’ back-up.
Are Tottenham right to sell Guglielmo Vicario this summer?
It now seems to be inevitable that Vicario will be departing Tottenham in some fashion this summer.
The goalkeeper is clearly not wanted under De Zerbi after he lost his place in the starting XI towards the end of the 2025-26 campaign.
Based on the stats, the manager is perhaps right to go down this route, with Vicario clearly underperforming last season.
According to Fotmob on 18 July, the goalkeeper only had a 62.4 per cent save rate in the Premier League during the 2025-26 campaign, and had a goal prevention rate of -5.22.
On top of this, he made two errors that led to goals, and he only kept seven clean sheets in 31 matches.
Therefore, a move away from Spurs would probably be the best solution for all parties, with the goalkeeper unlikely to return to the starting XI anytime soon.
Who else could Tottenham sell this summer?
Another man who could be on his way out of Tottenham this summer is Djed Spence.
The right-back had an impressive World Cup with England and has now attracted the interest of Everton this summer.
Football Insider has exclusively revealed that Tottenham will demand at least £40m to part with Spence this transfer window.
The North London club have him tied down to a three-year contract, which puts them in a solid position at the negotiating table.
However, it remains to be seen if Everton will offer £40m for the defender as David Moyes looks to reinforce his backline.
