Sources: Guglielmo Vicario in talks to join new club after Tottenham green light

Tottenham Hotspur have held talks with both Juventus and Napoli over the sale of goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario, sources have told Football Insider.

The Lilywhites still intend to sell the Italian before the end of the summer transfer window after giving him the green light to find a new club.

The north London outfit are keen to secure a permanent exit for the 29-year-old, and are actively working to strike a deal for him to return to Serie A.

Football Insider revealed earlier in July that Juventus and Napoli had made contact for a deal, and their interest has now progressed to ongoing, club-to-club talks.

Vicario is yet to feature for Spurs in their pre-season campaign, and is currently battling an injury that has delayed his summer return.

The former Empoli man has been Tottenham's number one in recent years, but lost his place to Antonin Kinsky at the crucial stage of their relegation battle last term.

Roberto De Zerbi has no plans for Guglielmo Vicario

Vicario has regularly been under fire at Tottenham in recent weeks, as his level of consistency has been called into question on several occasions.

Roberto De Zerbi is working to truly stamp his image on the squad this summer, and that has put the writing on the wall for Vicario.

Kinsky is also being lined up to take on the number one role, with veteran gloveman Martin Dubravka already added to the squad as his understudy.

That duo are expected to cover both the Premier League and domestic cup duties, meaning there is little place for Vicario in the new-look squad.

He remains under contract in the capital until the summer of 2028, but with Spurs actively looking to sell this summer, his exit is increasingly likely.

Vicario's price tag revealed

Football Insider previously revealed at the end of June that Tottenham are holding out to get £20million for Vicario this summer.

The Italian is understood to be interested in a move back to Serie A, due to the way he has quickly fallen out of favour under De Zerbi.

Juventus are thought to view the Spurs man as a cheaper alternative to their top target Emiliano Martinez, who they have tried and failed to sign in the early stages of the summer.

With all parties keen on getting a deal over the line, it is fully expected that Vicario will be back in Serie A before the end of the window.
