Tottenham idol hails Daniel Levy after journalist’s £15m update
Paul Robinson has heaped praise on Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy as the club close in on the signing of Middlesbrough defender Djed Spence.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former White Hart Lane number one said Levy, 60, is “very, very clever” when it comes to constructing transfers.
According to The Telegraph‘s John Percy (6 July), Tottenham are close to finally completing a £15million deal for Spence.

As revealed by Football Insider the previous week (29 June), the transfer has been held up by the fact that the two clubs could not agree on a fee for the right wing-back.
Spence has two years remaining on his contract with Boro.
When asked by Football Insider for his reaction to the latest update, Robinson said: “Daniel is very, very clever at constructing deals and constructing contracts that work to the benefit of Spurs.
“He has done it again with Spence by the looks of it. It is a player they have chased for a while now.
“If it isn’t right though, Spurs won’t do the deal. Nine times out of 10 Levy will get his man. He will do it in a way that is best for the club.
“This season, more than ever, the manager has been given free rein. The manager has been backed with finances. You have to give credit.

“Daniel gets stick but if you look at the manager, the stadium, the training ground and the business that has been done in this window, it’s great.
“There is no hiding place if he doesn’t back this manager. But he isn’t hiding, he is helping him.”
In other news, Kieran Maguire has claimed Tottenham have just sparked deluge of ‘sales’ amid ‘god-like’ Son Heung-min claim.
