Tottenham idol issues two-word verdict after Harry Kane lambasted by talkSPORT pundit
Paul Robinson has rubbished the idea of Harry Kane being jet lagged when Tottenham took on Brighton on Saturday.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-White Hart Lane number one claimed “the whole team looked jaded and poor” in the 1-0 loss at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Kane had little to no impact on Saturday as Tottenham’s winning run came to an end against the Seagulls.
Speaking on talkSPORT (17 April), ex-Aston Villa captain Gabby Agbonlahor singled out the England captain for his performance.
He suggested Kane was jet lagged from his trip to the US to watch the Masters six days earlier.
When asked by Football Insider for his thoughts on Agbonlahor’s view, Robinson issued a two-word verdict: “No chance.
“I was there myself. It is only a five-hour time difference. He will have been back Monday morning and the game was on Saturday. Even if he was jet lagged he would have recovered in time.
“I just think the whole team looked jaded. You could say 1-11 looked jet lagged. Did they all go to the Masters? They were all off the pace. It was a poor team performance.
“Kane would have travelled in absolute luxury. There would have been no problem whatsoever.
“It’s a non-starter for me. Players do those sort of trips in midweek for European games.”
Kane has rediscovered his best form in 2022.
He has contributed 22 goals and nine assists and 44 appearances.
