Tottenham idol issues two-word verdict after Tanguy Ndombele hints at stay
Tottenham manager Antonio Conte will not allow Tanguy Ndombele back into his first team, according to Paul Robinson.
The former White Hart Lane number one, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed the “ship has sailed” for the 25-year-old at Spurs.
As reported by the Evening Standard‘s Dan Kilpatrick (6 July), Ndombele told French outlet Le Media Carre he could “possibly be happy” to stay in north London next season.

The midfielder added that he will “see how things go” in pre-season.
Ndombele has struggled since arriving at Spurs in July 2019.
He spent the second half of last season on loan at Lyon.
When asked by Football Insider if there was a way back for Ndombele at Spurs, Robinson issued a two-word verdict: “No chance.
“That ship has sailed.
“He is obviously on a lucrative contract at Spurs. He’s on such big numbers that of course he is going to say he could be happy at Spurs. Let’s be honest, he is not going to walk away from a lot of noughts.
“He has not produced under three or four managers now. He is certainly not a player who Antonio Conte would want. Conte does not suffer fools gladly.
“His attitude and application was all wrong. Make no mistake about it, he is a top-quality player but we have not seen that quality often enough.

“I don’t think Conte is the type of manager to keep a player like that around the dressing room. Spurs may well have to cut their losses and move on.
“He is not going to make any noise about being unhappy though because he is on huge wages.”
