Tottenham idol makes ‘phenomenal’ prediction after Eric Dier reveal
Paul Robinson has backed Tottenham to end their 15-year wait for silverware this season.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-White Hart Lane number one said third, a good run in the Champions League and a domestic trophy would be a “phenomenal” achievement from Antonio Conte’s side.
Spurs began their season with a 4-1 win over Southampton on Saturday.
Speaking to Spurs TV, as quoted by The Spurs Web (5 August), Eric Dier revealed he is experiencing ” a different feeling” to one that he has “ever felt before” at the club.
The centre-half suggested the squad was complete heading into the new season.
When asked by Football Insider if silverware should be on the cards this year, Robinson said: “Listen, it is very, very difficult.
“This is the best squad Spurs have had for a number of years. They have a great chance of finishing third, competing in the Champions League and winning a trophy.
“Are they going to win the Premier League the way Man City are? Probably not. But they will have a real good go at it. Can they win the Champions League? I’m not sure but I’d expect a really good run in it.

“Winning the FA Cup or the League Cup has to be the target. They have a great chance of winning silverware. The best chance they have had for a number of years. Realistically, it is the FA Cup or the League Cup though.
“Third, a good run in the Champions League and a domestic trophy would be a phenomenal season for them. I think they can do it.”
